REMINDERS ON PASSPORT RENEWAL

By: Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines, Seoul

SEOUL, 20 March 2017 - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to remind all Filipinos in Korea to regularly check the validity of their passports. We encourage all those whose passports have less than one (1) year validity to apply for the renewal as it normally takes six (6) to eight (8) weeks for the processing and delivery of the new passport.

Further, as a matter of policy, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) does not encourage the extensions of ePassports due to the fact that some foreign governments do not recognize the extension stamp, opting to refer to the validity date as contained in the chip of the ePassport. This results in the offending passport holder being offloaded from their flights or being denied entry into another country.

In the case of Overseas Filipinos returning to the Philippines for a short period of time, you may renew your passports at the Embassy prior to your departure for the Philippines and request for the pick-up of the new passport at the DFA Consular Office in Aseana in Pasay City or at any of the Satellite and Regional Consular Office near you.

For the guidance of everyone.
