RENOWNED FILIPINO WRITER TO HOLD BOOK READING AT SR SEOUL

SEOUL, 30 May 2016 ? Sentro Rizal Seoul, the cultural promotion arm of the Philippine Embassy, will hold a book-reading session with renowned Filipino writer Dr. Jose “Butch” Dalisay on Sunday, 05 June 2016, at 3pm at the Rizal Hall of the Philippine Embassy Chancery.

Dr. Dalisay, a full-time professor of English and Creative Writing at the University of the Philippines, has won various awards and prizes for his fiction, poetry, drama, nonfiction, and screenplays, including 16 Palanca Awards. The Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature are known as the "Pulitzer Prize" of the Philippines in terms of prestige.

He has authored more than 20 books mainly in the English language since 1984. His novel Soledad's Sister was shortlisted for the inaugural Man Asian Literary Prize in 2007.

The event will feature a 30-minute reading of various selections of Dr. Dalisay’s, to be followed by a Q&A session and informal discussion. A simple reception will follow the event, which is expected to draw overseas Filipinos, including scholars, instructors and teachers.
