GIMHAE, 4 August 2017 ? Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Raul S. Hernandez led a team from the Philippine Embassy in conducting a two-day consular outreach mission in Gimhae, a city located 311 kilometers south of Seoul, on 4-5 August 2017.

The highlight of the outreach mission was a dialogue between Ambassador Hernandez and the leaders and members of the local Filipino community, where various issues affecting overseas Filipinos including consular and labor matters were discussed. Ambassador Hernandez also updated the community on the Embassy's contingency plan in case of an outbreak of armed hostilities between North and South Korea, or in the face of an imminent attack from the North. Area coordinators for Gimhae, Busan, Changwon, Masan, Ulsan and Geoje were identified for proper coordination between the Embassy and the local community.

The Embassy team, in coordination with the Filipino Association in Gimhae Korea (FASIGKO) headed by its President, Mr. Michael Sarmiento, successfully conducted its consular mission at the Gimhae Support Center for Foreign Worker with 313 Filipinos served for various consular services ranging from passport renewal, report of births to notarials, as well as services for Pag-IBIG and OEC.

Assisting Ambassador Hernandez were Consul General Christian De Jesus, who gave a presentation on consular services; Labor Attache Ma. Luz Talento, who discussed labor matters; and Honorary Consul General to Busan, Dr. An Sang-wook, who presented various updates.
