Philippine Ambassador to Korea Raul S. Hernandez and renowned Filipino financial guru Mr. Randell Tiongson lead the participants of the OFW Financial Literacy Seminar in Incheon in making the financial literacy sign on Sunday, 7 September 2014.
The seminar, organized by Sister Genevieve Jabasa, Director of the Bucheon Filipino Migrants��� Community (BFMC) and Mr. Marlon S. Albao of the Global Filipino Investors (GFI), was attended by over 200 OFWs from Busan, Gimhae, Daegu, Ansan, Bucheon, Incheon and Seoul. Ambassador Hernandez joined the company of renowned Filipino financial guru Mr. Randell Tiongson and Mr. Floi Wycoco as speakers in the seminar. Mr. Tiongson spoke on the topics of personal finance and investments while Mr. Wycoco shared his knowledge of mutual funds and the stock market. In his talk, Ambassador Hernandez said the seminar��셲 aims dovetails with the Philippine government��셲 advocacy to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families through the implementation of the ��쏪oint Migration and Development Initiative Phase II Project (JMDI 2)��� in Regions I, IV-A and XII. Ambassador Hernandez cited the proactive role of the Philippine Embassy, through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), in promoting financial literacy and livelihood opportunities to our OFWs in partnership with various Filipino community organizations. These projects include the Reintegration and Preparedness Program Orientation, Courses on Baking, Cake Decorating and Basic Sewing and Financial Literacy and Business Investment Opportunity Seminars. Ambassador Hernandez exhorted the Filipino community in Korea to avail of the invaluable opportunity presented by the seminar to learn more about crucial concepts in financial management and entrepreneurship to aid them in their long term financial planning.
