ADVISORY ON 2023 VOLUNTARY DEPARTURE PROGRAM FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS IN THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA


The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea (MOJ) has issued an announcement on the new special voluntary departure program for foreign nationals who no longer have any legal status to remain in Korea.

According to the MOJ, beginning 11 September 2023, foreign nationals illegally staying in South Korea who will voluntarily depart on or before 31 December 2023 will be granted a fine exemption and suspension of re-entry restrictions.

Applicants may also contact the Immigration Contact Center at 1345 with Filipino among the foreign languages available or visit the HiKorea (http://www.hikorea.go.kr) and Korea Immigration Service (http://www.immigration.go.kr) websites. LAUNCH OF FULLY DIGITAL APOSTILLE FOR PSA E-CERTIFICATES AND CHED E-CAVS

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul informs the public of the Official Launch of the Fully Digital Apostille (eApostille) for Philippine Statistics Authority electronic Certificates (PSA eCertificates) and Commission on Higher Education electronic Certification, Authentication, and Verification (CHED eCAVs) at the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila, Philippines, on 16 March 2026. This initiative is part of the Philippines’ continuing implementation of the electronic Apostille Program (e-APP) of the HCCH aimed at facilitating the secure electronic issuance and verification of Apostilles and promoting the efficient cross-border use of public documents among Contracting Parties to the Apostille Convention.  The following arrangements for the issuance of Apostilles for PSA eCertificates, covering civil registry documents, and CHED eCAVs, covering academic documents, were implemented starting 16 March 2026:
