ADVISORY ON FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR DISPLACED OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS DUE TO COVID-19


The Embassy wishes to share with the Filipino community in South Korea the Guideline on the Financial Assistance for Displaced Landbased and Seabased Filipino Workers due to the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, or DOLE-AKAP for OFWs issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) (https://www.dole.gov.ph/news/department-order-no-212-series-of-2020-prescribing-guidelines-on-the-provision-of-financial-assistance-for-displaced-landbased-and-seabased-filipino-workers-due-to-the-corona-virus-covid-2019-d/)

The said guideline covers Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who are displaced on account of COVID-19. Covered OFWs may be eligible to apply for one-time financial assistance of USD200 or Php10,000 or its equivalent in local currency if they have experienced job displacement due to the host country's imposition of lockdown or community quarantine measures due to COVID-19, or if they have been infected by COVID-19, provided that they have not received any financial support/ assistance from the host country or employer.

The DOLE is providing the financial assistance for qualified OFWs in Posts with Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) presence, which includes South Korea.

Special Vocal Workshop with the Nightingales, 22 June 2025 at the 2F Sentro Rizal, Philippine Embassy in Seoul

As part of the activities for Philippine Independence Month, the Philippine Embassy in Seoul in cooperation with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) invites interested individuals to a Special Vocal Workshop to be conducted by the renowned performing duo “The Nightingales” from the Philippines. The Nightingales are composed of Ms. Bernadette Mamauag and Ms. Katrina Marie Saga, who are members of the Philippine Madrigal Singers Company of Artists. The Nightingales have performed extensively in the Philippines and many other parts of the world with a varied repertoire ranging from classical, sacred, Filipino, contemporary and pop, and world music. The duo will be sharing vocal and performance techniques at this activity, further expanding the mission of the Philippine Madrigal Singers of a "Singing Philippines". See you there!
