ANNOUNCEMENT: APPLICATION FOR THE WOOJUNG EDUCATION AND CULTURE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP


The Philippine Embassy in Seoul wishes to inform the Filipino Community in Korea that the WOOJUNG EDUCATION AND CULTURE FOUNDATION is accepting student candidates from the Philippines who are currently enrolled in a university or college in Korea for scholarship.

REQUIREMENTS:

I. The application forms and all the related details are as follows. As long as the applicants meet the following requirements and have been recommended by the Philippine Embassy, the applicants are eligible to apply.

II. A foreign student studying in Korea seeking financial support for tuition fees.
Note: One must enroll formally coursework class at a university as an undergraduate or graduate student. Students enrolled in a language class or research semester only are not qualified.

III. Confirm that the applicant does not exceed the term of the scholarship.
(The reference start date is the date you begin school)
- Undergraduate students in 4 year university : First 8 semesters (First 4 years)
- Master's degree students : First 4 semesters (First 2 years)
- Ph. D degree students : First 6 semesters (First 3 years)
- Joint Master's and Ph. D degree students : First 8 semesters (First 4 years)

Note: We are unable to offer scholarships beyond the above noted terms. If once a students complete coursework, the student will no longer be eligible for scholarships from the following semester.

IV. A student who has acquired over 80 points score (equivalent to a grade of B or better) of academic records. But if the student has financial difficulties, this could be considered.

Note: A student must have at least one semester of grades and as a full time student from a four year Korean university to apply for the scholarship. (In order to determine academic potential).

V. A student with good manners.

VI. A student with no government scholarship. Students receiving no scholarships from any other source will receive preferential consideration when selecting Woojung scholarship recipients.

VII. Application Deadline:
The Embassy deadline for submission of applications by mail or in person is on Sunday, 21 July 2024 before 5:00 PM to meet the Wednesday, 24 July 2024 deadline of the Woojung Foundation.

VIII. Note:
The said scholarship is not expected to cover all projected expenses of the applicant or eventual grantees. Successful grantees will be announced and notified directly by the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation.

IX. Address:
Original applications must be received by Mr. Anthony Z. Cornista, Cultural Officer, Philippine Embassy on or before Sunday, 21 July 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Philippine Embassy, 80 Hoenamu-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, 04346.

CHECKLIST OF REQUIRED FORMS
All documents should be filled out all items in Korean and submit through the Embassy.
1. Application Form: 1 portrait photo needed (Complete in Korean, not in English)
2.Recommendation letter by professor or dean (Complete in Korean, not in English)
3. Certificate of Admission
4. Certificate of Enrollment (Original Copy)
5. Transcript (Original Copy)
If a student complete coursework, the student will no longer be eligible for scholarships from the following semester.
6. Self-Introduction (Length: 1 page only) (Complete in Korean and in English)
7. Study Plan for 2nd Semester of 2024 (Length Limitation: 1 page only)
(Complete in Korean and in English)
8. Copy of Bank Account with Account Number (In order to wire the scholarship to recipients)
