Saying she finds the situation in North Korea “disturbing,” President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today called for sobriety and asked the people to wait for the United Nations Security Council’s decision on the issue.

In an interview held at the Shilla Hotel here this morning, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said she joins the South Korean people in seeking a stop to nuclear missile testings by North Korea. “We certainly also find the latest development in North Korea disturbing and we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our brethren in the Republic of Korea in wanting to have a nuclear-free (Korean) Peninsula,” the President said. “We find it encouraging that the United Nations Security Council is discussing the issue now and we support the UN Security Council in whatever the solution they will come out with,” she added. “So we will abide by whatever decision the UN Security Council comes up with,” the President said.
