13 February 2026, Seoul. Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez joined representatives of diplomatic missions in Seoul in a special viewing event at the National Museum of Korea, featuring select exhibitions highlighting Korea’s cultural heritage.
During the event, guests were led to the Room of Quiet Contemplation, a dedicated gallery showcasing Korea’s two most treasured cultural icons, a pair of impeccable Pensive (Thinking) Bodhisattva statutes dating back from late sixth and early seventh century. The two main gilt-bronze sculptures, both designated as National Treasures, exemplify the outstanding sculptural artistry of the Three Kingdoms Buddhism.
In celebration of the 480th birth anniversary of Admiral Yi Sun-Sin and the 80th Anniversary of Korea’s Liberation, the National Museum of Korea also held a special exhibition titled “The Great Admiral Yi Sun-Sin,” in honor of Korea’s war hero.
As the Philippines and the Republic of Korea continue to strengthen their Strategic Partnership, engagements in cultural institutions such as the National Museum of Korea provide meaningful platforms for dialogue, mutual understanding, and appreciation of shared Asian heritage. END
