Goyang City - The Philippines actively took part in a series of spring events in Goyang throughout March and April 2026, underscoring the strong and growing ties between the Philippines and the city’s multicultural community.
Philippine Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez participated in the launch of the Goyang International Walking Festival on 27 March 2026 and the opening ceremony of 2026 International Horticulture Goyang Korea on 24 April 2026.
At the Goyang International Walking Festival, Ambassador Fernandez emphasized that walking positively affects health systems, productivity, the environment, and the economy, while also contributing to the overall well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
The horticultural festival gathered representatives from many embassies in Seoul, with some embassies mounting exhibitions to promote cut flowers and fauna imported into the Republic of Korea.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan welcomed the Philippines to Goyang and conveyed high respect for the Filipino workers who contribute to the growth of the economy in Goyang.
The Philippine Embassy in Seoul is honored by the special regard that Goyang continues to extend to the Philippines, reflected in the consistent recognition by senior officials of the Philippine government’s contribution to preserving peace during the Korean War.
Both activities celebrated the arrival of spring in Korea and reaffirmed Goyang’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming community for residents of diverse cultural backgrounds.
The Philippines will continue to support and collaborate with the Republic of Korea on events that promote health and wellness and environmental sustainability. END
