PHILIPPINES JOINS FOREIGN MINISTER DINNER FOR ASEAN HEADS OF MISSIONS IN SEOUL

Seoul, 08 May 2026- On the eve of the ASEAN Summit in Manila, Foreign Minister Cho Hyun hosted the ASEAN Heads of Missions in Seoul for a dinner that reaffirmed the Republic of Korea’s continuing engagement with ASEAN and commitment to the ASEAN–Republic of Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Foreign Minister Cho shared the ROK’s forward-looking vision for ASEAN–Korea cooperation. The engagement provided a timely opportunity for ASEAN Ambassadors to exchange views with the Foreign Minister on the direction of ASEAN–ROK relations, particularly as both sides work to translate the partnership into practical and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez joined fellow ASEAN Heads of Mission at the dinner, which held particular significance in light of the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship this year. 

Ambassador Fernandez also shared updates on the Philippines’ Chairship priorities and preparations, including efforts to sustain ASEAN’s engagement with its external partners.

Also present at the dinner were ASEAN–Korea Centre Secretary-General Ambassador Kim Jae-shin and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director-General for ASEAN Lee Dong-gy.END
