PHL EMBASSY PARTICIPATES IN 33RD KOREA IMMIGRATION & LIAISON OFFICIALS' MEETING

24 May 2024, Incheon. The Philippine Embassy participated in the 33rd Korea Immigration & Liaison Officials' (KILO) Meeting held on 23 May 2024 at the Incheon International Airport.

Attended by at least 23 Embassies, 7 foreign airlines and officials and staff from the Korea Immigration Authentication Service (KIAS), the 33rd KILO meeting had several sessions including a presentation by Consul General Romulo Victor Israel, Jr., which focused on the recently launched e-Apostille system in the Philippines.

He highlighted the fact that the e-Apostille facilitates online application, payment and submission of important public documents that are often needed for travel, study, work and marriage of Overseas Filipinos. With the e-Apostille, they no longer have to return to the Philippines or have an authorized representative to secure apostilled civil registry documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority.

Differences between the traditional Philippine Apostille and e-Apostille Certificates were further clarified, while emphasizing that both can be verified online by third parties such as immigration and border control officers

Organized by KIAS under the Korean Ministry of Justice, the KILO meeting aims to gather immigration security-related trends and updates from various foreign governments (e.g., authentication of travel documents) to improve border control management.

Those who wish to avail themselves of the Philippine e-Apostille system or online verification of Philippine Apostille Certificates may visit https://www.apostille.gov.ph. END
