05 May 2026 - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul hosted a meeting between its officials, the Department of Agriculture officials led by Undersecretary for Special Concerns and ODA, Mr. Jerome V. Oliveros, officials of Cabanatuan City Local Government led by Mayor Myca Elizabeth R. Vergara, officials of PAO-Seoul and PTIC-Seoul, and officials of the Korea Agricultural Machinery Industry Cooperative (KAMICO), led by its Chairman, Mr. Shin Gil Kim.
The meeting discussed issues related to the establishment of the Korea Agricultural Machinery Complex (KAMIC) in Bo. Kalikid Sur, Cabananatuan City, Nueva Ecija. The meeting agreed that the Philippine Government and KAMICO will coordinate more closely to address the remaining issues to move the project forward.
The KAMIC project represents a landmark collaboration between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea, strengthening agricultural modernization through advanced machinery and technology. The facility is projected to assemble and produce various agricultural equipment, such as tractors and seeders, which are specifically designed for local farming conditions in the Philippines.
In December 2025, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the inauguration of the KAMIC project, highlighting its significance in creating domestic jobs, stimulating local businesses, and providing Philippine farmers with access to modern farming technologies.
The KAMIC project is expected to enhance food security and rural development in the Philippines, while also demonstrating the Republic of Korea’s commitment to supporting sustainable growth in the Philippines. - END
