ASSOCIATION OF FILIPINO EDUCATORS IN KOREA CELEBRATES FOUNDATION DAY WITH PH EMBASSY OFFICIALS

10 January 2023 - OUMWA Acting Undersecretary Eduardo De Vega with Ambassador Theresa Dizon-De Vega and POLO-OWWA OIC Manolito Barotilla, took part in the celebration of the 15th Foundation Day of the Association of Filipino Educators in Korea (AFEK) led by current President Prof. Joeffrey Maddatu Calimag held at the Sentro Rizal Hall of the Philippine Embassy on 28 December 2022.

AFEK fosters educational and cultural exchanges and relationships between the Republic of the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. During the celebration of AFEK's foundation day, its members were able to dialogue with Philippine government officials on employment, research, and other academic concerns as Filipino educators in the Republic of Korea.

Ambassador Dizon-De Vega congratulated and thanked AFEK for its efforts in promoting Philippine educational studies and institutions in Korea as well as the establishment of educational partnerships between the two countries. AFEK's active work in the ASEAN Korea Centre's Academic Network and its contributions in the editing of the book "Katatagan: Tales of Faith, Strength, and Resilience of Filipios in South Korea" published in 2021.

Acting Undersecretary De Vega who delivered Keynote Remarks spoke about the transition to the Department of Migrant Workers in 2023 and continuing programs and services for the Filipino diaspora. He also replied to some of the concerns raised by Filipino educators during an open forum.

The Philippine Embassy in Seoul continues to support the undertakings of a growing and thriving community of Filipino educators and academics in the Republic of Korea.

PHILKOREC EXECUTIVE BOARD CALLS ON PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR

01 April 2026, Seoul - Philippine-Korea Economic Council Executive Board ((PHILKOREC EB) officials, led by its Chair, Atty. Fabian Delos Santos, called on Ambassador Bernadette Therese Fernandez at the Sentro Rizal Conference Hall of the Philippine Embassy.  The PHILKOREC EB, along with other executives and key officers from various Philippine business sectors, including services, hospitality and tourism, construction, hotels and resorts, consulting, manpower, airlines, and healthcare and wellness, were in the ROK from 30 March to 03 April to participate in the 2026 Korea Business Expo Gangseo.  The Expo is a strategic platform organized by the World Federation of Overseas Korean Economic and Traders Associations (World-OKTA), which coincidentally celebrated its 45th Anniversary this year.  The business expo provided international businessmen with the opportunity to engage leading Korean enterprises, exchange market insights and explore partnerships.

PH EMBASSY HIGHLIGHTS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP, VALUE OF DIPLOMACY AT KNDA ANNUAL PANEL

25 March 2026, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul participated in the Annual Diplomatic Panel of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) on 25 March 2026 at the DiploTown Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.  The program gathered forty (40) diplomatic candidates of the KNDA and five (5) working-level diplomats from the Embassies of the Philippines, Guatemala, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, and Brazil.  The KNDA panel convenes representatives of diplomatic missions in Seoul for an exchange on the practice of diplomacy and present the significance of their respective countries’ relations with the Republic of Korea to the newest cohort of Korean diplomats.
