PH EMBASSY HIGHLIGHTS FTA AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN INVESTMENTS AT SPECIALIZED PANEL HOSTED BY THE ECONOMIST

30 January 2024, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy through its commercial counselor Mr. Jose Ma. Dinsay participated in a specialized panel hosted by The Economist to discuss the growing importance of rising Asian economies as regional business partners and the opportunities this presents for the future of South Korea. The event was limited to senior-level executives and members of the Economist Intelligence Corporate Network.

During the panel discussion, Commercial Counselor Dinsay discussed business opportunities in the Philippines for Korean companies in Electric Vehicles (EV) and EV batteries, mineral processing, electronics, and semiconductors. He also provided an overview of the incentives foreign investors will receive under the Philippines' Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises Act [CREATE].

The panel also highlighted the new era the signing of the PH-ROK Free Trade Agreement ushers in for business and private enterprises. A new pathway for deeper business and investor collaboration, the signing of the comprehensive and groundbreaking Philippines - Republic of Korea free trade agreement brings many economic advantages to both nations in areas such as the automotive industry, information technology and electronics, smart farms, and the public health sector. Signed on 7 September 2023 at the sidelines of the 43rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Jakarta, Indonesia, the PH-ROK FTA will also strengthen ASEAN-ROK economic ties and foster closer cooperation for prosperity in the region. PHILKOREC EXECUTIVE BOARD CALLS ON PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR

01 April 2026, Seoul - Philippine-Korea Economic Council Executive Board ((PHILKOREC EB) officials, led by its Chair, Atty. Fabian Delos Santos, called on Ambassador Bernadette Therese Fernandez at the Sentro Rizal Conference Hall of the Philippine Embassy.  The PHILKOREC EB, along with other executives and key officers from various Philippine business sectors, including services, hospitality and tourism, construction, hotels and resorts, consulting, manpower, airlines, and healthcare and wellness, were in the ROK from 30 March to 03 April to participate in the 2026 Korea Business Expo Gangseo.  The Expo is a strategic platform organized by the World Federation of Overseas Korean Economic and Traders Associations (World-OKTA), which coincidentally celebrated its 45th Anniversary this year.  The business expo provided international businessmen with the opportunity to engage leading Korean enterprises, exchange market insights and explore partnerships.

PH EMBASSY HIGHLIGHTS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP, VALUE OF DIPLOMACY AT KNDA ANNUAL PANEL

25 March 2026, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul participated in the Annual Diplomatic Panel of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) on 25 March 2026 at the DiploTown Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.  The program gathered forty (40) diplomatic candidates of the KNDA and five (5) working-level diplomats from the Embassies of the Philippines, Guatemala, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, and Brazil.  The KNDA panel convenes representatives of diplomatic missions in Seoul for an exchange on the practice of diplomacy and present the significance of their respective countries’ relations with the Republic of Korea to the newest cohort of Korean diplomats.
