PH EMBASSY WELCOMES FILIPINO STUDENTS IN A SUMMER SALO-SALO EVENT


27 June 2023, Seoul. Ambassador Theresa B. Dizon-De Vega welcomed Filipino students in South Korea to a "Summer Salo-Salo" event on 27 June 2023 at the Philippine Embassy in Seoul. Around 80 students attended the gathering, designed to bring together Filipino students from different Korean universities. The students likewise took part in fun games and enjoyed Filipino food.

In her remarks, Ambassador Dizon-De Vega welcomed students to South Korea and encouraged them to take all available opportunities to learn more about their respective fields of interests and be good ambassadors of the Philippines to South Korea. She also emphasized the importance of coming together and becoming each other's support system in difficult times. She also assured them of the Philippine Embassy's support during their stay in Korea.

As of May 2023, South Korea is home to at least 500 Filipino students who are taking various courses in the fields of language, art, business, development and science and technology, among others. A number of students are members of the Pinoy Iskolars sa Korea (PIKO), a registered Filipino community organization which was founded in 2006 and promotes unity and camaraderie among students, facilitates exchange of relevant information on both cultural and social issues, and liaises with relevant offices and organizations on student concerns. MWO-OWWA HOLDS ON-THE-SPOT SLOGAN AND POSTER MAKING CONTESTS FOR 31ST MIGRANT WORKERS DAY

Seoul, 7 June 2026 - As part of the pre-celebration activities for the 31st Migrant Workers Day, the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), successfully conducted the On-the-Spot Slogan Making Contest and On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest on 7 June 2026 at Sentro Rizal, Philippine Embassy in Seoul. Six participants competed in the slogan-making contest, while ten participants showcased their artistic talents in the poster-making contest. The contestants consisted of EPS Workers, Caregivers, and Professors all coming from different parts of Korea like Seoul, Gimpo, Hwaseong, Ansan, and Paju. The program also featured the special Migrant Workers Day messages of Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, who recognized the invaluable contributions of OFWs and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their welfare and protection.

EMPOWERING OFWS THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP: PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SEOUL HOLDS BUSINESS STRATEGY SEMINAR

Seoul, 28 May 2026 – Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Bernadette Therese C.
