PHILIPPINE EMBASSY CONTINUES PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MULTICULTURAL FAMILY MUSIC BROADCASTING PROGRAM

16 July 2022, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul resumed its participation in the monthly Multicultural Family Music Broadcasting Program for Filipinos at the start of the second half of 2022 to bring newsworthy developments and updated information to Filipinos in the Republic of Korea.

The regular Embassy segment was revived some months back with the initial easing of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic with a program featuring Philippine Ambassador Theresa Dizon-De Vega and Filipino-Korean host Ms. Gennie Kim. The Ambassador spoke about the various initiatives of the Embassy including the launch of the Know Your Rights and Responsibilities platform, a revamped Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar for EPS workers led by POLO-Korea, and the continuation of the Peak Pinoy Entrepreneurship Series.

For the second half of 2022, Consul General Romulo Victor Israel Jr. appeared on the same program to provide updates on COVID19-related entry restrictions in the Philippines and the mutual efforts of both Philippines and Korea to facilitate safe and efficient travel between the two countries.

In between the broadcast of Korean and OPM songs, the Consul General also explained the ongoing progress and upcoming plans of the Embassy to improve the delivery of its consular services, including the resumption of its outreach activities to Busan and Daegu, and in the coming months to the Gwangju and Jeju areas.

This was the first interview of Consul General Israel, who had prior stints in Saudi Arabia and the US, after his arrival in Seoul earlier this year. Consul General Israel likewise reiterated the Embassy's appreciation for the active involvement of the Filipino community in Korea in the recently held Overseas Voting for the May 2022 National Elections, Leaders' Forum for Independence Day and Migrants Day and Dr. Rizal's Birth Anniversary events.

More officials of the Philippine Embassy are expected to discuss other aspects of the Embassy's service to the Filipino public including consular, legal, labor, welfare, and assistance-to-nationals as well as economic, tourism, and cultural matters, through the Woongjin Foundation-sponsored radio program in the coming months. The Woongjin Foundation is a supporter of multiculturalism in Korea and offers scholarships to qualified foreign students, including Filipinos, currently pursuing studies in Korea. END
