PHILIPPINE EMBASSY DISCUSS PH-ROK NUCLEAR COOPERATION WITH OFFICIALS OF KOREA HYDRO AND NUCLEAR POWER CO. LTD

19 July 2022, Seoul- Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Theresa Dizon-De Vega met with Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co. Ltd executives Nam Yoh-Shik (Executive Vice President, Project and Overseas Nuclear Business Division), Kim Yongsoo (Overseas Nuclear Business Section Vice President), and Choi Younghwan (Overseas Nuclear Business Section Senior Manager) to discuss future PH-ROK cooperation on nuclear technology and renewable energy.

During the call, Ambassador De Vega affirmed the Philippines' interest in the focusing on a viable and sustainable Energy Plan and informed ROK that President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. himself expressed interest in pursuing nuclear technology and other energy cooperation platforms with the Republic of Korea.

KHNP is the largest power generator in Korea, producing 1/3 or around 28% of Korea's domestic demand for power through a combination of nuclear power, hydro power, pumped-storage power, and new and renewable energy. It is likewise an energy partner of twenty-nine (29) countries for global power supply.

KHNP is a long-time partner of the Philippines on energy related activities, having led the feasibility studies for the safe use of the Bataan nuclear powerplant and the Cagayan Eco Zone. The KNHP likewise shared they are trying to support more experts in the nuclear energy sector, and was pleased to share that Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) International School has a student engineer from the Philippines. PHILKOREC EXECUTIVE BOARD CALLS ON PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR

01 April 2026, Seoul - Philippine-Korea Economic Council Executive Board ((PHILKOREC EB) officials, led by its Chair, Atty. Fabian Delos Santos, called on Ambassador Bernadette Therese Fernandez at the Sentro Rizal Conference Hall of the Philippine Embassy.  The PHILKOREC EB, along with other executives and key officers from various Philippine business sectors, including services, hospitality and tourism, construction, hotels and resorts, consulting, manpower, airlines, and healthcare and wellness, were in the ROK from 30 March to 03 April to participate in the 2026 Korea Business Expo Gangseo.  The Expo is a strategic platform organized by the World Federation of Overseas Korean Economic and Traders Associations (World-OKTA), which coincidentally celebrated its 45th Anniversary this year.  The business expo provided international businessmen with the opportunity to engage leading Korean enterprises, exchange market insights and explore partnerships.

PH EMBASSY HIGHLIGHTS STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP, VALUE OF DIPLOMACY AT KNDA ANNUAL PANEL

25 March 2026, Seoul - The Philippine Embassy in Seoul participated in the Annual Diplomatic Panel of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) on 25 March 2026 at the DiploTown Building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.  The program gathered forty (40) diplomatic candidates of the KNDA and five (5) working-level diplomats from the Embassies of the Philippines, Guatemala, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, and Brazil.  The KNDA panel convenes representatives of diplomatic missions in Seoul for an exchange on the practice of diplomacy and present the significance of their respective countries’ relations with the Republic of Korea to the newest cohort of Korean diplomats.
