Ambassador Theresa Dizon-De Vega together with Filipino students in Korea on various engagements this January and December last year

30 January 2023, Seoul. The Philippine Embassy continues to reach out and engage with the growing number of Filipino students and scholars in Korea this winter season.

Philippine Ambassador Theresa Dizon-de Vega met with students at Ewha Woman's University, Seoul National University, Ajou University, and the Korea Development Institute (KDI) at the Ewha International Center in January 2023. The Filipino students are taking up studies in diverse fields ranging from the sciences to environmental studies.

The students discussed with Ambassador Dizon-de Vega their focus areas, future plans, and adjusting to student life in Korea. In turn, the Ambassador briefed them on programs and plans for the Filipino student sector in Korea, upcoming Embassy activities, a planned get-together with Filipino students and scholars later in the year, and their possible participation in the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Korea in 2024.

In late December 2022, Ambassador Dizon-de Vega likewise met other Filipino students, both graduating and with ongoing studies at the Korea Development Institute and the Seoul National University School of International Studies where she was invited to deliver commencement speeches. A number of Filipino students received awards and commendations for scholastic achievement and active student programs participation. Filipina scholar Rebecca Baylosis of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) delivered the graduation response on behalf of SNU Graduate School of International Studies Gender and Development Concentration program students after garnering the highest academic achievement in the focal area.
