PHILIPPINE EMBASSY PARTICIPATES IN THE INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON VIOLENCE AGAINST MIGRANT WOMEN ORGANIZED BY WOMEN'S HUMAN RIGHTS INSTITUTE OF KOREA (WHRIK)

30 September 2023, SEOUL - As part of the Philippine Embassy in Korea's efforts to promote and protect the welfare of migrant women in the Republic of Korea, Third Secretaries, and Vice Consuls Reisha Olavario, Political, Economic, and GAD focal Officer, and Atty. Jilliane Joyce Cornista, Assistance-to-Nationals, and Legal Officer, participated in the International Seminar on Prevention of Violence against Migrant Women organized by the Women's Human Rights Institute of Korea on 7 September 2023. Other invited participants include agency heads of the Women's Rights Plus of Korea and Women Migrants Human Rights Center of Korea, as well as representatives from partner organizations helping migrants like Asia Chang, and Danuri Seoul.

Members of the Philippine Embassy shared Embassy-organized advocacies to promote gender and development including regular Gender and Development, Know-Your-Rights-and Responsibilities, and Organizational Safe Spaces seminars as well as legal aid programs designed to help migrant women and children better integrate into an increasingly multicultural community in the Republic of Korea. The Philippine Embassy also emphasized the importance of actively participating in the policy-making space through dialogues with relevant ROK officials and gender and development champions to advocate for the needs and interests of Filipino migrant women and children under the leadership of PH Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Theresa Dizon-De Vega.

The seminar also discussed recent trends and developments in gender-based violence and possible ways to uphold and protect the rights and the welfare of migrants, especially women and children in Korea. Participants agreed on the importance of a coordinated approach in working together to address violence against migrant women in Korea and the challenges encountered by organizations supporting victims of gender-based violence.

MWO-OWWA HOLDS ON-THE-SPOT SLOGAN AND POSTER MAKING CONTESTS FOR 31ST MIGRANT WORKERS DAY

Seoul, 7 June 2026 - As part of the pre-celebration activities for the 31st Migrant Workers Day, the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), successfully conducted the On-the-Spot Slogan Making Contest and On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest on 7 June 2026 at Sentro Rizal, Philippine Embassy in Seoul. Six participants competed in the slogan-making contest, while ten participants showcased their artistic talents in the poster-making contest. The contestants consisted of EPS Workers, Caregivers, and Professors all coming from different parts of Korea like Seoul, Gimpo, Hwaseong, Ansan, and Paju. The program also featured the special Migrant Workers Day messages of Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, who recognized the invaluable contributions of OFWs and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to their welfare and protection.

EMPOWERING OFWS THROUGH ENTREPRENEURSHIP: PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SEOUL HOLDS BUSINESS STRATEGY SEMINAR

As part of the month-long celebration of the 44th Anniversary of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the Philippine Embassy in Seoul, through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and OWWA-South Korea, in partnership with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC)-Seoul, successfully conducted a Business Strategy Seminar on 31 May 2026 at the Sentro Rizal Hall, Philippine Embassy in Seoul.A total of 53 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and Overseas Filipinos (OFs) attended the seminar, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing their entrepreneurial knowledge and preparing for long-term financial stability and reintegration.

PHILIPPINE AMBASSADOR JOINS ASEAN COMMITTEE IN SEOUL IN A STUDY VISIT TO LOTTE R&D CENTER

Seoul, 28 May 2026 – Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, H.E. Bernadette Therese C.
