PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN SEOUL JOINS 44TH INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMS DAY
23 January 2026, Seoul–Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez joined Korea Customs Service (KCS) Commissioner Myeong-ku Lee, senior officials, and members of the diplomatic corps in celebrating the 44th International Customs Day on 23 January 2026 at Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam. The event underscored the vital role of customs in securing and facilitating global trade—a field of growing cooperation between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea. In his address, Commissioner Lee highlighted that modern customs go beyond processing goods, serving as a critical function for trade facilitation, supply chain security, and public safety. He also noted KCS’s use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to improve efficiency, inspections, and risk response. These initiatives align with the Philippines’ customs reform efforts and ongoing collaboration with the KCS, including information exchange, capacity-building, and technical cooperation to strengthen enforcement, risk management, and trade facilitation. PH EMBASSY WELCOMES OSHDP DELEGATION ON BENCHMARKING STUDY MISSION IN KOREA
04 February 2026, Seoul — The Philippine Embassy in Seoul, led by Ambassador Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez, received a delegation from the Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines Inc. (OSHDP) at the Sentro Rizal Conference Room. Embassy officials, together with representatives of the Social Security System and Pag-IBIG Fund Member Services, joined the productive discussions on improving services for Filipinos in Korea, including access to Pag-IBIG and SSS programs, and support for OFWs and residents investing in housing back home.

GMA Municipality Officials Call on PH Ambassador
25 February 2026, Seoul, Republic of Korea — Philippine Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Bernadette Therese Fernandez welcomed officials of the Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA) in Cavite, led by Sangguniang Bayan Member Angela Lenin Paycana, on 25 February 2026. The GMA officials were in the Republic of Korea on a study visit as part of the Feasibility Study for the Digital Transformation of the Schedule of Market Values (SMV) and Real Property Tax (RPT) Valuation Standards. The project would support the GMA Municipality in establishing a modern, transparent and reliable RPT system that could be a model for other municipalities and cities in terms of predicting the schedule of fair market values of the properties in their respective jurisdictions. The project would provide recommendations for improving the current system of property/land valuation in the Philippines.

01 April 2026, Seoul - Philippine-Korea Economic Council Executive Board ((PHILKOREC EB) officials, led by its Chair, Atty. Fabian Delos Santos, called on Ambassador Bernadette Therese Fernandez at the Sentro Rizal Conference Hall of the Philippine Embassy. The PHILKOREC EB, along with other executives and key officers from various Philippine business sectors, including services, hospitality and tourism, construction, hotels and resorts, consulting, manpower, airlines, and healthcare and wellness, were in the ROK from 30 March to 03 April to participate in the 2026 Korea Business Expo Gangseo. The Expo is a strategic platform organized by the World Federation of Overseas Korean Economic and Traders Associations (World-OKTA), which coincidentally celebrated its 45th Anniversary this year.
