EMBASSY, AWARD-WINNING KOREAN RADIO STATION LAUNCH NEW SERIES

SEOUL, 26 February 2015 – The Philippine Embassy in Seoul has partnered with the Woongjin Foundation and Digital Radio KISS for regular appearances in an award-winning public service program to broaden its media footprint in South Korea and ensure Filipinos residing in the country are aware of the projects and services it organizes.

Arribas with DJ Gennie Kim discuss issues relevant to Filipino residents in Korea at the inaugural launch of a new series on 27 February 2015 for the Philippine Embassy at the 밠ulticultural Family Music Broadcast for Filipinos� at the Digital Radio KISS Station sponsored by the award-winning Woongjin Foundation in Seoul.
Officers and staff of the Embassy will be invited to talk about issues relating to consular, economic, cultural, and tourism matters as well as assistance to nationals, labor and welfare of migrants. First Secretary and Consul General Iric C. Arribas was her first guest for the series launch on Friday, 27 February 2015.
Woongjin Foundation became the first recipient of the Radio Journalism Award of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas in December 2011 for raising public awareness on Filipino migration issues, advocating the cause of Filipinos overseas and promoting a positive image of them overseas.
During the one-hour program, Consul General Arribas gave a brief overview of Philippine-Korea relations, as well as the roles of the Embassy and its upcoming events for the year. He chatted with two Filipino female listeners and answer their queries on the issuance of Embassy IDs and on the Post's Contingency Plan.
The program 밠ulticultural Family Music Broadcast for Filipinos is heard every day online at www.wjf.kr and on the following channels: Skylife Channel 344, C&M Channel 811, KT Olleh Channel 620. CJ Hello Vision Channel 720, Kangwong Broadcasting Channel 510, Chungbuk Youngseo Broadcasting Channel 156, and Chungcheon Broadcasting Channel.
Apart from the Filipino language, Woongjin began airing radio programs in 2008 in seven other foreign languages: English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Arabic, Russian and Mongolian. Newscasters fluent in each language take turns and air programs throughout the day.
The radio station mainly focuses on introducing Korean culture and tradition, as well as daily tips on living in Korea to foreign listeners. The station also delivers news on the eight countries and Korean language lessons, while playing K-pop music.
