Director Im, who will assume his post on 1 July as the sixth director of the EPS Center Philippines since its opening on 13 December 2004, assured the ambassador that he would convey to the concerned offices at Korea���s Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) to look for ways to provide better employment terms for the mutual interest of the Philippines and Korea.

The EPS Center is the representative office of the MOEL���s Human Resources Development of Korea (HRD Korea) in the Philippines for the purpose of supporting tasks relevant to the sending and receiving of Filipino workers.

The Philippines is one of the six original partners that signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea on 24 April 2004. After a decade of implementation, several changes have been instituted for the betterment of the sending and receiving system in conjunction with MOEL and and HRD Korea.

As of April 2015, there are 54,253 Filipino residents in Korea, of which more than 24,000 are employed in workplaces under the EPS of Korea.
